All services are free of charge; much time is spent on
individual consultations. Assistance is available every 5-6
months.
Prevention and Education
The Community Education Program
provides comprehensive, skills based, ongoing HIV/STD
education. It provides tailored programs
that will meet the needs of each individual
organization/agency,
after school mentoring group,
etc. Outreach and programs are provided in Spanish to the Latino/a community, with focus on culturally-appropriate
materials and presentations, by bilingual and
bi-cultural staff members. Community
Education provides creative activities that will encourage
and foster healthy lifestyle behaviors and offer information on choices from abstinence
to degree of risk. It provides accessibility to free
resources and written information,
such as brochures and prevention methods. Community Education
provides individual one on one education and pre and post-test counseling.

Faith Ministries
In partnership with supporting and partnering
faith communities,
the Faith Ministries Program supports
the Alliance mission in three ways: (1) by
developing, training, and coordinating
faith-based
Care Teams,
(2) by providing
spiritual care and counseling to
persons
living with HIV/AIDS, their families, Care Teams and
other care givers; and (3) by providing
faith-based
HIV/STD education
to faith communities throughout the
Triangle.
Volunteer Services
Volunteers provide services in three
counties, at five agency site locations and are an important
part of agency programs. In Wake County, Alliance volunteers work with the community
through the
client services, faith ministry,
community education, and family
care homes. These
volunteers provide services in a wide variety
of roles, from
shopping for the client services food pantry, cooking meals
at Hustead and Orange House, providing a friendly face to
individuals that get tested for HIV/AIDS, facilitate support
groups and provide practical care and emotional support for persons living
with HIV/AIDS through Faith Ministry Care Teams.
