Larry Kramer’s play The Normal Heart at Burning Coal

fist in airBurning Coal Theatre Company is presenting Larry Kramer’s play The Normal Heart January 18 – February 4, 2018 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors (65+) or $15 for students, teachers and active military. Thursday tickets are all $15. Sunday, January 21st at 2 pm is the Pay What You Can day. The production is recommended for 16 and above or with parental guidance. Tickets may be obtained at 919.834.4001 or at www.burningcoal.org.

Talkbacks will happen after each Thursday night performance (January 18, 25 and February 1st) and will include members of the cast and Hector Salgado, Executive Director of the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina.

The Normal Heart is about the very early years of the AIDS epidemic in the US and the fierce battle that was fought behind the scenes to bring this terrible scourge to the attention of the broader public. It is directed by Emily Ranii and stars New York City based actor Marc Geller, along with Chapel Hill’s Mark Filiaci and Michael Babbitt and Raleigh’s Julie Oliver.

The production is funded in part by support from the Fletcher Foundation, Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton and Workplace Options, who support the arts, medical and community organizations in Wake County. These three organizations came together to support of the work of the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina, Burning Coal Theatre and the United Arts Council of Wake County, believe that the arts inform and support the communities in which we live.
