The Normal Heart is about the very early years of the AIDS epidemic in the US and the fierce battle that was fought behind the scenes to bring this terrible scourge to the attention of the broader public. It is directed by Emily Ranii and stars New York City based actor Marc Geller, along with Chapel Hill’s Mark Filiaci and Michael Babbitt and Raleigh’s Julie Oliver.
The production is funded in part by support from the Fletcher Foundation, Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton and Workplace Options, who support the arts, medical and community organizations in Wake County. These three organizations came together to support of the work of the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina, Burning Coal Theatre and the United Arts Council of Wake County, believe that the arts inform and support the communities in which we live.
