Oliver Heatly
Prevention Specialist
Oliver (they/them) completed their Bachelor of Social Work at Appalachian State University. Immediately after school, they began working towards becoming a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-I) while offering intensive substance use counseling, DBT skills and men's trauma groups, and individual case management through Watauga County's LME/MCO. In addition to formal counseling, Oliver spent their time in the high country volunteering for local harm reduction organizations and grassroots efforts to improve health outcomes and quality of life for individuals using criminalized drugs, the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals who exchange sex for resources, formerly incarcerated individuals, and other systemically marginalized communities in Appalachia. Outside of work, Oliver can be found reading up on various spiritual practices at local coffee shops, slinging Narcan and clean syringes as mutual aid, or doing absolutely nothing at all underneath their cat, Montero.
